Come on baby, light your fire! Feng Shui for 2026.

According to Chinese astrology, each year is ruled by a specific zodiac animal and one of the five elements. This unique pairing influences the energetic vibe of the year, shaping both our collective experiences and personal growth.

2025 was the year of the Wood Snake. I must admit I used to get chills just thinking about a snake and its shiny, smooth skin texture crawling around. But I started to appreciate the snake more after I learned that it is one of the most feminine animals on earth. It represents transformation, deep feminine wisdom, and the ability to move with flow.

Pair it with the Wood element, which represents growth and new beginnings, 2025 was a powerful and transformative year for many of us. For me, it was the year that almost broke me. And looking back, I’m actually grateful for it. It made me recalibrate my direction for the year (and life!) ahead.

Shedding skin is no joke, and taking the steps to release the old version of you is sometimes a grieving process, or at least an adjustment. According to Feng Shui we don’t start the year on the 1st of January. We start to ring in the new year in February so you still have time to get to know your new skin before facing another journey around the sun (phew!).

But let’s look ahead! (After the looking inward-calibrating-to-your-intuition part.)
What’s in store for you in 2026?

The year of the Fire Horse (yihaaa!) A powerful combination of energy, movement, and momentum. The horse is a strong, yang animal. It holds massive energy in its body and heart, and there’s a reason we use the term “horsepower” to measure force. Horses are spiritual and wild and majestic, and honestly, a little intimidating.

What’s interesting is how Wood feeds Fire. Everything we gathered in 2025 of the growth, the lessons and the detours are the ‘wood’ that is now ready to feed the fire of your dreams! (I am squealing with excitement.)

How can you utilise this energy, you ask? Okay, let’s bring the big fluffy words down to the practical tangible action steps (after all, I am a Virgo sun and rising).

The Fire Horse connects to the Fame & Recognition area of your home, the place that reflects how you are seen in the world. And you might think “Well, let’s Shui up that area so that my dream (insert wanted dream) will see me!”

Let’s slow down for a sec. I don’t want to see that fireplace you’ve been building go up in flames in the first quarter of 2025. Horsepower + Fire already comes with a punch! And that’s exactly why I recommend that you add more Water element to your home. Water is associated with the area that is called Life Purpose, and this is the area we will concentrate on. If you don’t know where this are is in your home, focus on the front door.

(Disclaimer: If you experience depression or deep melancholia, then do not do this since excess water can overwhelm you even more.)

These items carry the frequency of water and can help balance excess fire;

  • Diffuser

  • Pictures of water (calm, running water. Monet’s Water Lilies is a perfect example)

  • Colour black

  • Wavy shapes

  • Black tourmaline crystal

  • Mirrors (be aware of what they reflect when hanging up)

As with all Feng Shui adjustments, I highly recommend that you listen to your intuition and body. What do you need from your surroundings and home?

Let me know in the comments if this resonated with you.

XOXO,
Maria
